Yay, we’re headed out pretty soon for Hawaii! We like taking our own food, so this is what we’ve got for the 2 hours at the airport plus the 7 1/2 hour flight:
Salads (all homegrown – lettuce, chives, oregano, dill, parsley)
Grapes
Watermelon, pears, and peaches
Raspberries
Halved lemons to squeeze onto the salads
Larabars
Homemade concord grape fruit leather
Cashews
Pepperjack cheese slices
Wasa crackers
Slices of sprouted grain bread
Whole Wheat Gingerbread muffin
Some little sweet treats

I love eating my own food on the plane and it feels good to be taking all this good stuff. Plus we can re-use the containers while we’re travelling too — for picnics or whatever… and then fill them back up with tropical Hawaiian goodness to eat on the plane ride back. (Or with sea shells, as the case may turn out to be…)

Lindsey that is wonderful… if I was the a plane I would love to sitting next to you, just to look at that beautiful wholesome food.
Enjoy your trip xxx
I hope that you’re having a fabulous time in Hawaii Lindsey, please keep us posted! 🙂
How Healthy can you get?!!! What modern, enlightened travelers you two are! Have a WONderful time on the islands!!! Much Love <3<3
This is so inspiring, I fly out next week for a trip and needed some snack inspiration. What do you do about keeping things cold? Or do you not worry about it too much?
Hi Aja,
Have fun!
I double-bag all the cold stuff together in paper bags, but otherwise don’t worry too much about it. They will confiscate any gel packs I take, so, what can ya do! 🙂
Sweet – I am thinking of throwing some hard boiled eggs into the mix too! 🙂
Aja, hardboiled eggs, what a great idea! YUM! Have a great trip~
did you have to put the food through the gamma ray scanner?
Hi Vicky,
We avoid that machine at all costs! Our food went through the normal x-ray conveyor belt thing that carryon luggage goes through. We, ourselves, “opt out” of the gamma ray scanner and have them hand-pat us down. I like this option way better!
